I have lived in Concord off and on for 5 years, and I have never seen a parking space free this close to the entrance of the Concord Mills mall. My friend Caleb got his truck and moved it to this spot because it was too good an opportunity to pass up.
One more thing to mark off my list of things to do before I die.
One thing in my life that happens is I go through periods of extreme poverty. Sometimes it's my fault, sometimes it isn't.
As a result, I've become aquainted with cheap food from the grocery store. One type of food that's very cheap is rice. Of course, instant rice is more expensive than regular rice, but only by a few pennies, so I normally splurge on this big ticket item.
Unfortunately, rice normally has very little flavor. It's great that you've bought food that will last you for several days with your $2, but who cares that you have food if it doesn't taste good? Mixing the rice with vegetables can help, but after a while you get sick of veggies. So what's the solution?
That's right! Artificial flavor!
I prefer to use Wyler's bouillon cubes.
The reduced sodium is somewhat better than the regular, but each cube contains 25% of what you're supposed to consume in a day.
Following are directions. You may want to write down these directions. These written directions.
1. Boil the water you will use for your rice 2. For each cup of water, add one bouillon cube. My favorite is the chicken flavor. 3. Boil the water until the bouillon is completely dissolved. It may help to remove the pot from the stove and wait for the water to stop boiling a bit so you can see more clearly. 4. When the bouillon is dissolved, add the appropriate amount of rice. Cover; remove from heat. 5. Wait five minutes, and you've got flavored rice. 6. Remove from pot, fluff with fork if desired, and place on your plate. 7. Consume

For someone who isn't being paid, I've been pretty busy lately. I have, though, been working somewhat on the Guyana stuff. Our trip was ten days, and I'm breaking down everything into a series of web pages, categorized by day. I'm finished with the content for day 1, but I have to work on the navigational aspect. As soon as I have that taken care of, I will post the link on here for your viewing pleasure.
There are people that are anxious to know how my trip went. To them I say: I am working on it. I have lots of pictures...a snippet of audio here and there...and lots of commentary. Have patience. I'll have something up soon.
I came down with a fever last night after getting back to Charlotte. I think it's from operating on four hours of sleep during the previous two days. I'm drinking water and sleeping as much as possible. I wish I could sleep more than a few hours at a time. I will, of course, write all about my trip to Guyana, but I think it will have to wait until I'm feeling better. I'm sitting in at my computer in the middle of June wearing a sweater, and I'm still cold. On the bright side, I do feel better than I did last night.
My hope is that this is simply because my body is worn out instead of Dengue Fever or Yellow Fever. Since this started rather suddenly yesterday, odds are that it is not one of these dread diseases. And I have received the yellow fever vaccine. I wasn't really bitten by mosquitos very much, so I'll probably be fine in a day or two.
Please pray for my financial situation, because it's quite dire. As of yesterday, my car insurance is past due. I've got about $60 in debits coming up soon with $20 in the bank. I owe rent and utilities. I owe my roommate $400. I owe the church $325 for the trip I just finished. I can't drive anywhere as I've relinqueshed my tag. My friend Rafe has been having financial problems of his own...the weirdest things have been happening. If I were to get a job tomorrow within walking distance, it would still be at least 2 weeks before I see any money. So yes. Please pray.
