My last day was Tuesday. I was afraid I would have to come in that night to do the inventory, but everyone showed up they were supposed to. Wednesday afternoon, I was supposed to get together with the franchisee, Karen, for lunch so that I could turn in my phone, my credit card, and most importantly...my keys. However, those plans were nixed because Cold Stone's area developer team decided to do the quarterly inspection of my store the day after I left.
Not cool.
Karen and the manager of her Fayetteville location, Faith, spent all day cleaning so the store would be ready for the inspection. I spent the entire day stewing because I was worried over the inspection results. If the store looked terrible and they got a low score, it would be my fault because it reflects how the store was run under my watch. Furthermore, it would put my job reference from Karen at risk if she was displeased with things.
I finally met with Karen and Faith around 7pm at Concord Mills. They were both in great moods. Their inspection score was 99%, which is much better than when I was actuallt there running things. They said things didn't look that bad, so all was well.
I handed over my stuff, we went over some last-minute details, and that was that. Karen and Faith both gave me hugs, and I got the heck out of dodge.
Overall, I got what I wanted. I left on my own terms and with no hard feelings.
I'm going to spend the next several days relaxing. When I feel normal, I usually stay up until midnight or 1am. The past few nights I've been hitting the sack around 9 or 10. Today I even took a nap, and for me that's unheard of. I'll probably start the job-hunting process on Monday. Hopefully by then I'll feel more like myself.
