It has been discovered that the update to Joomla 3.9.16 fails if your Joomla site has duplicate usernames. This is a very rare situation which may exist due as a result of migrating users from one Joomla site to another directly in a database. In this video we'll see how to search for duplicate usernames in Joomla and how to correct them if you find any. One of the methods we try is an SQL query suggested by Joomla, but so far I have been unable to get that to work. Here are some links mentioned in this stream:
