Every Joomla site sits on top of a hosting account, and for many of us that means cPanel. Joomla has its own API for content and configuration, but the database, the SSL certificate, the DNS zone, the mailboxes, the .htaccess file, and the cron jobs all live one layer down in cPanel. In this session I work through cPanel's API โ UAPI and the WHM API โ and show how scripting the hosting side turns a lot of slow, click-through admin work into something you can run from the command line, or hand off to an AI assistant. Here's what I cover:
โ
Reading a Joomla site's own database credentials straight off the server
โ
Creating a database and user and wiring up privileges for a fresh Joomla install
โ
Getting and keeping the SSL padlock green with AutoSSL, and fixing the mail-subdomain false positive
โ
Hardening a Joomla docroot's .htaccess to shut down the scanner noise that hammers your server
โ
Editing the DNS zone and adding mailboxes without ever opening the hosting panel
โ
Setting up the Joomla CLI cron the scriptable way
โ
Generating a scoped cPanel API token so all of the above can be automated safely
โ
The payoff: pairing a cPanel token with a Joomla token so an AI assistant can work both the server and the CMS in one flow

Summary
1. Channel Introduction & Topic Overview
Set context for Watch Me Work 352, introduce Tim Davis, mysights.guru sponsor, and outline the integration of C Panel API with AI for Joomla hosting management.
2. C Panel Hosting Setup & Demo Environment
Establish hosting philosophy, configure demo hosting account, and prepare the foundation for API-driven automation.
3. C Panel API Security & Token Configuration
Create and manage API tokens with restricted permissions, implement security controls to limit AI access to specific endpoints and prevent unauthorized operations.
4. Initial System Reconnaissance via API
Query hosting account structure, inventory databases and PHP versions, discover subdomains, and analyze storage usage and deployment footprint.
5. Orphaned Asset Identification & Safe Removal
Locate unused databases, subdomains, and legacy project files; establish removal criteria and reclaim disk space (example: 1.9 GB freed).
6. Large File Audit & Legacy Archive Management
Discover files exceeding 50 MB threshold, identify backup and orphaned installations, categorize inactive archives, and plan safe deletion strategies.
7. Email Infrastructure & DNS Optimization
Audit email deliverability, configure SPF/DKIM/DMARC records, establish PTR authentication, and consolidate DNS zone records (150+ to 58).
8. Security Hardening & PHP Version Standardization
Block WordPress-specific attacks on Joomla sites using `.htaccess`, manage multi-PHP environments across domains, and align versions for compatibility.
9. Backup & File Recovery via Acronis Integration
Access Acronis backups, perform file-level restoration through browser automation, recover individual files from previous snapshots, and remove obsolete backup folders.
10. Summary, MCP4J Capabilities & Future Workflows
Recap C Panel management capabilities, review MCP4J component features and add-ons, outline Joomla CLI integration paths, and close with next-steps guidance.
