SUMMARY

Introduction and Purpose

Discover tool identifies files in your Joomla site that the database doesn't recognize.

Backup Your Site

Always make a backup before modifying or deleting any files.

Using the Staging Environment

Use the StagIt extension to create a staging copy of your site for safe testing.

Accessing the Discover Tool

Go to the backend of your Joomla site and navigate to the Discover Tool under the System menu.

Identifying Files

The tool lists files the database knows nothing about, providing options to install, uninstall, or delete.

Installing Files

Select and install known files (e.g., Casapia template) to make them available in the backend.

Uninstalling Files

After installation, files can be uninstalled via the Extension Manager if not needed.

Deleting Unknown Files

For unknown or incompatible files, manually delete them from your file manager.

Verifying File Deletion

Refresh the Discover Tool to ensure the files are removed from the list.

Final Clean-up

Continue the process until all unrecognized files are either installed, uninstalled, or deleted, ensuring a clean site.
