Cybersalt Consulting Ltd. is a Joomla-focused web development and hosting firm based on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. We help individuals, organizations, and businesses achieve their goals online through website design, development, migrations, hosting, security cleanup, and ongoing management.
Founder Tim Davis started Cybersalt in 1998, and we have been at it ever since.
Who we are
Tim Davis is the founder and owner of Cybersalt โ see his author profile on cybersalt.com. He has been working with Joomla since the Mambo days, back when the project that became Joomla was still called Mambo, in the early 2000s. Tim's wife Susan Davis works alongside him on projects, especially website builds and redesigns. Tim and Susan are celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary this year and have three married children and six grandchildren.
Cybersalt is a family-run consultancy at its core. That shape has stayed the same on purpose. When you engage us, you get direct access to the person who is actually doing the work โ no client-services layer, no ticket queue that hides you from the developer, no offshore hand-off after the sales call.

What we do
Website design, migrations, and rebuilds. We migrate Joomla sites from any version โ as far back as Joomla 1.0 โ up to the current release (Joomla 6). We also convert WordPress sites to Joomla. Every migration includes a new modern, responsive template designed with SEO, AI discoverability, accessibility, and mobile responsiveness in mind.
Custom Joomla module and extension development. For clients whose sites need behaviour that off-the-shelf extensions cannot cover, we build custom Joomla 5 / 6 modules and plugins to fit.
Website hosting. Fast Joomla hosting on our own infrastructure, with support for PHP 7.2 through PHP 8.5. Hosting is included in our monthly management plan (below).
Monthly Joomla Website Management โ US$99/month all-in with hosting included. Uptime monitoring, weekly automated security audits, Joomla core and extension version monitoring, strategic updates (tested before deployment), off-server backups using Akeeba Backup Pro stored on Cybersalt cloud, and access to the pro versions of every Joomla extension we license โ including JCE Pro, Akeeba Backup Pro, Admin Tools Pro, Regular Labs bundle, Joomlashack extensions, the JoomlaCK menu suite, and many others.
Website compromise cleanup. When a Joomla site is hacked, we perform a full account-level malware sweep, remove injected code, close the entry vector, harden the site, and bring it back online.
Email marketing, SEO, YouTube channel setup, and training. These are the surrounding needs that most website work touches. We can also record training sessions on screen so clients keep the video for future team members.

cs-* Joomla extension family. Cybersalt develops and maintains a family of Joomla extensions under the cs- prefix โ including cs-mcp-for-j (a Model Context Protocol server for Joomla), cs-userback-admin, cs-siteground-cache-for-joomla, cs-edge-cache-marker, cs-template-integrity, cs-customfields-anywhere, cs-stale-cache-buster, and others.
StageIt and MigrateMe 4. Tim leads the ongoing development and support of both StageIt and MigrateMe 4 on behalf of PHP Web Design โ two of the most user-friendly Joomla migration and site-staging extensions in use across the Joomla community today.
VirtueMartTemplates.net and EnergizeThemes.com. In 2026, Cybersalt acquired these two long-standing Joomla template libraries and is currently modernizing their full catalogues for Joomla 5 and Joomla 6.
In the Joomla community
Basic Joomla Tutorials on YouTube โ @Basicjoomla. Tim has been publishing free Joomla training on this channel since November 2013. The channel now hosts over 800 videos and has passed 700,000 lifetime views.
Watch Me Work livestreams and Maintenance Monday sessions. Tim runs regular livestream sessions where he works through real client tickets, migrations, and support scenarios on camera, visible to the Joomla community in real time.
