MCP for AcyMailing Essential & Enterprise is a Pro add-on for MCP for J that adds the AcyMailing features Acyba keeps for its paid editions. From Essential, that's scheduled campaigns and detailed per-subscriber and per-link statistics. From Enterprise, it's segments, automations, follow-ups, scenarios, custom fields and mailbox actions. It's the companion to the free MCP for AcyMailing add-on, which covers everything AcyMailing Starter can do. You'll need AcyMailing Essential or Enterprise on the site, and that's a separate purchase from Acyba. Every tool runs AcyMailing's own edition check and refuses below its edition, so on Starter the only tool that works is the one that explains why the others won't.
Why this exists
The paid editions are where AcyMailing starts doing things on its own. Campaigns go out on a schedule, automations and follow-ups send mail when something happens, and segments decide who gets what. That's the part where you most want to see what's set up before something fires. Which automations are switched on? Which follow-ups are live? Which unsent campaigns depend on a segment? Who opened the last campaign, and which links did they click? This add-on gives your AI client those answers, along with a careful way to schedule a campaign and switch things on and off.
Two gates, and the second one is Acyba's
There are two separate things between you and these tools.
The first is ours. This package needs a Cybersalt Pro membership to download.
The second is Acyba's. AcyMailing's Starter, Essential and Enterprise builds are almost the same code, and the edition a site runs comes down to a single row in AcyMailing's configuration table. Every paid feature in AcyMailing is gated by one function, acym_level(), which reads that row. Changing the row would switch the paid features on, and neither of the AcyMailing add-ons will write it. Every tool here calls acym_level() before it does anything, which is the same check AcyMailing runs on itself, and refuses with an explanation when the site is below the edition the tool needs. A Cybersalt membership buys the MCP tools. It doesn't buy Acyba's features.
AcyMailing has two paid rungs, and the tools respect both. An Essential site gets the Essential tools and a plain refusal from the Enterprise ones. An expired trial counts as Starter, because that's how acym_level() treats it, so a site that was trialling Enterprise will see every gated tool refuse once the trial runs out.
One tool is deliberately not gated. get_acym_pro_status tells you which edition AcyMailing says this site is running and, for every tool in this add-on, whether it's available here or which edition it needs. If a tool refuses, run that one first.
What Claude can do
There are 19 tools. The free add-on carries the other 33, including lists, subscribers, campaign drafts and sending.
| Area | Tools | What you can do |
|---|---|---|
| Status (any edition) | 1 | Which edition the site resolves to, and which tools work here. Never gated. |
| Scheduling (Essential) | 2 | Schedule a draft campaign for a set time, and cancel a schedule. |
| Statistics (Essential) | 2 | Per-subscriber results for a campaign, including who opened it, bounced or unsubscribed, and click counts for every tracked link. |
| Segments (Enterprise) | 4 | List and read segments, switch one on or off, and delete one that no unsent campaign depends on. |
| Automations (Enterprise) | 3 | List and read automations, and switch one on or off. |
| Follow-ups (Enterprise) | 3 | List and read follow-ups, and switch one on or off. |
| Scenarios (Enterprise) | 1 | List scenarios with their triggers. |
| Custom fields (Enterprise) | 2 | List the subscriber fields, and set custom-field values on a subscriber. |
| Mailbox actions (Enterprise) | 1 | List the mailboxes AcyMailing checks for bounces, with their passwords withheld. |
Version 1.0 lists segments, automations and follow-ups and switches them on and off, but it doesn't create them. Their definitions use formats that are specific to each AcyMailing plugin, and building them is still a job for AcyMailing's own screens.
Installing it
You'll need Joomla 5 or 6, PHP 8.2 or later, MCP for J, and AcyMailing 10 or 11 in its Essential or Enterprise edition, bought from Acyba. Install the free MCP for AcyMailing add-on alongside it for lists, subscribers, campaigns and sending. The two share no tool names, so they sit side by side without conflict.
Install AcyMailing itself from the Joomla admin, not over MCP. Its installer calls Joomla's router, which doesn't exist under the API application MCP tools run in, so installing it with MCP for J's install_extension tool leaves a half-finished install. Use System โ Install โ Extensions for AcyMailing and its updates.
- Subscribe on the sign-up page, or get this and every other Pro add-on with MCP for J Pro โ All Access.
- Download the ZIP and install it through System โ Install โ Extensions, or paste your download URL into Install from URL.
- That's the whole install. The plugin enables itself, and the tools show up in your AI client the next time it lists them.
There's no admin screen for this plugin, by design. If the tools come back refusing, run get_acym_pro_status, which tells you which of the two gates you're behind.
Using it
Ask for what you want in plain language. "Which automations and follow-ups are active right now?" lists them. "Who clicked the links in last week's campaign?" runs the link statistics. "Schedule the October newsletter for 9am on Tuesday" starts with a dry run.
Scheduling has the same brakes as queueing in the free add-on. The first call is a dry run that tells you how many distinct people the campaign will reach. To actually schedule it, you confirm and pass that number back, and the tool refuses if the count has changed in the meantime. The dry run also tells you whether anything will fire the schedule, and that matters. A scheduled campaign only goes out if AcyMailing's cron is running, and on Joomla 4 and later the page-load trigger in AcyMailing's own acymtriggers plugin is disabled. Without a cron, a schedule just sits there.
A few other things are worth knowing before you switch anything on or off.
- Activating an automation or a follow-up needs
confirm: true. Once either one is on, it sends mail by itself. - Deactivating a follow-up doesn't cancel what it has already queued. Follow-up emails aren't tied to a campaign, so the queue sends them anyway.
- Deleting a segment sends its campaigns to everyone on their lists. Once the segment is gone, AcyMailing applies no filter at all. The delete tool refuses while an unsent campaign still uses the segment, and tells you which ones.
- Custom-field values get cleaned up on the way in. AcyMailing's own save strips emoji, collapses repeated spaces and cuts a value off at the field's maximum length without saying so. The tool goes through that same save, so the response shows what was actually stored.
What's been tested
Version 1.0.0 was driven on Joomla 6.2 and PHP 8.3 at each rung. On AcyMailing Starter 10.11.1, every gated tool refused. On Essential 10.11.1, the four Essential tools worked and the Enterprise ones refused. On Enterprise 11.1.0, all of them worked. That testing used test data rather than a working mailing list, so the statistics and Enterprise tools haven't yet met a real one. If you run into something, I'd like to hear about it.
