MCP for J add-on logoMCP for Convert Forms Pro is a Pro add-on for MCP for J that covers the parts of Convert Forms which only exist, or only hold data, on the Pro edition. Ten tools handle submission export, the visitor analytics Pro records against every submission, the app connections your Tasks send data through, geo-IP lookup and uploaded-file cleanup. It's a package rather than a single plugin, and installing it also installs the free MCP for Convert Forms add-on underneath, so you get the thirty-tool base surface as well and never end up with an export tool and nothing to list a form with.

Why this exists

Export is the clearest case. Convert Forms Pro exports submissions through a cron listener whose handler reads the form id out of the HTTP request and calls jexit() when it doesn't find one, which would terminate an MCP request outright rather than returning an error. So this add-on skips the listener and calls Convert Forms' own export engine directly. Same engine as the admin button, no HTTP coupling, and it adds limit and offset paging that the product's own export screen doesn't expose โ€” which is the difference between "export the submissions" working on a form with two hundred entries and working on one with forty thousand.

The rest of it is data that simply isn't there on a free site. Convert Forms Pro fills in country, device, browser and referring source on every submission it records; nothing on the free edition writes those columns, so there's no free equivalent to wrap. Same with app connections, which is the table that holds the credentials for every Pro integration your Tasks fire into.

What Claude can do

Ten tools. They're additive on top of the thirty in the free add-on, and no tool name is shared between the two, so both run together without interfering.

AreaToolsWhat you can do
Export1Pull submissions out through Convert Forms' own export engine, with limit and offset paging the admin export button doesn't offer.
Analytics1Break submissions down by country, device, browser and referring source, over the columns only Pro populates.
Connections4Create, update, delete and test the app connections your Tasks send data through.
Geo-IP3Look up an address, check the state of the local database, and update it.
Maintenance1Clean up uploaded files left behind by deleted submissions. This one removes files from disk.

Installing it

You'll need Joomla 5 or 6, PHP 8.2 or later, MCP for J, a Cybersalt Pro membership, and Convert Forms Pro on the site โ€” which is a separate commercial product you buy from Tassos Marinos. On a free Convert Forms site these ten tools install and run, but each one reports that it needs Pro rather than doing anything.

  1. Subscribe above, or get this and every other Pro add-on with MCP for J Pro โ€” All Access.
  2. Download the ZIP and install it through System โ†’ Install โ†’ Extensions, or paste your download URL into Install from URL.
  3. That's the whole install. Both plugins enable themselves, and forty tools show up in your connected AI client the next time it lists them.

If you already had the free add-on installed on its own, the package updates it in place rather than duplicating it.

Using it

Ask for what you want in plain language. "Export every submission to the newsletter form since January as CSV" runs the export engine with paging. "Where are the people filling in the quote form coming from?" runs the analytics breakdown. "Test the Mailchimp connection" does exactly that and tells you what came back.

Two of these change things outside the database, so they're worth knowing about before you call them. Updating the geo-IP database downloads a fresh copy from the vendor. Cleaning uploaded files deletes files from disk, permanently, and there's no undo for that in Convert Forms or anywhere else.

The vendor's own Pro gate is re-implemented, not routed around

Every tool here checks which edition of Convert Forms is installed using the same signal Convert Forms uses itself, and on a free site it returns a plain "this needs Convert Forms Pro" message. It doesn't try to reimplement the missing capability, and it doesn't quietly do the Pro thing anyway. Convert Forms Pro is somebody else's product and their split is theirs to make, so the add-on honours it โ€” even where honouring it means a tool that does nothing on the site it's installed on.

Some of Convert Forms Pro is deliberately left alone. Its JSON API isn't exposed by any tool here: switching that on opens a credential-authenticated public endpoint that hands out submissions, and that's a security decision for a site owner to make in the admin interface, not something an AI client should be able to flip. The Pro-only field types don't need a tool either, because the free add-on discovers usable field types from what's on disk at runtime, so on a Pro site they're already addable through the field tool you're using anyway.

Why the split exists at all

The rule behind these add-ons is that an add-on's tier mirrors the tier of the extension it wraps, so nobody pays Cybersalt for AI access to an extension they already got for free. Convert Forms has both editions, and its database schema is byte-identical between them, so the base surface โ€” forms, fields, submissions, Tasks, reporting โ€” lives in the free add-on and works on either edition. Only what genuinely doesn't exist on the free edition ended up here. The free add-on's page goes into that in more detail.

Keeping the two plugins from sharing a tool name matters more than it sounds. MCP for J's tool registry stores tools by name and a second registration under the same name silently replaces the first, with no error, so two plugins both claiming list_convertforms_forms would behave differently depending on which one Joomla loaded first. That's why the split is additive and why the package ships both halves together.

It hasn't been run against a live site yet

Worth saying plainly, since you're being asked to pay for it. Version 1.0.0 is written from a close reading of the Convert Forms 5.2.4 Pro source and passes its full verification harness, but no tool here has executed against real data on a live install.

The read tools โ€” export, analytics, geo-IP lookup and the connection test โ€” are safe to explore with and the best place to start. Take a backup before the write tools, which are connection create, update and delete, and the uploaded-file cleaner that removes files from disk. If you run into something, I'd genuinely like to hear about it.
