MCP for Advanced Module Manager Pro is a Pro add-on for MCP for J that adds 9 tools for what Advanced Module Manager Pro by Regular Labs adds: the Pro rule types such as time of day, IP addresses and geolocation, per-module extra fields, and HTML around modules. It needs Advanced Module Manager Pro itself on the site, which is a separate purchase from Regular Labs. Every tool except the status tool refuses without it.
Why this exists
The free add-on, MCP for Advanced Module Manager, covers everything the Free edition does: what decides each module, Condition Sets, grouping modules on shared sets, and converting Joomla's own assignments. If you've paid Regular Labs for the Pro edition, this one covers the rest, so your AI client can show a module only during office hours, only to your office's IP addresses, or only in Canada, and can set the extra fields and wrapper HTML your templates rely on.
Two gates, and the second one is Regular Labs'
This package needs a Cybersalt Pro membership to download. That's the first gate. The second is that every tool except get_advancedmodules_pro_status refuses unless Advanced Module Manager Pro itself is installed. Paying us for a membership doesn't entitle anyone to someone else's paid features. The status tool stays open because its job is to explain those refusals.
What Claude can do
There are 9 tools. The free add-on carries the other 22, and you'll want it alongside this one.
| Area | Tools | What you can do |
|---|---|---|
| Status | 1 | Whether this site has the Pro edition, and what told us. Works on any edition. |
| Settings | 2 | Read and change the extra fields' labels, whether they're on, the HTML tab and the remove-modules tag. Every other setting is kept. |
| Module extras | 3 | Read a module's extra fields and HTML, set extra fields, and set the HTML before and after it and the HTML shown when it's empty. |
| Pro rules | 3 | The rule types available and whether each can work on this site, then add and change them: time of day, days, months, seasons, users, IP addresses, geolocation, article custom fields, and HikaShop, ZOO and FLEXIcontent pages. |
Installing it
You'll need Joomla 5 or 6, PHP 8.2 or later, MCP for J, the free MCP for Advanced Module Manager add-on alongside it, and Advanced Module Manager Pro, which you buy from Regular Labs.
- Subscribe on the sign-up page, or get this and every other Pro add-on with MCP for J Pro โ All Access.
- Download the ZIP and install it through System โ Install โ Extensions, or paste your download URL into Install from URL.
- That's the whole install. The plugin enables itself, and the tools show up in your connected AI client the next time it lists them.
There's no admin screen for this plugin, by design. If the tools come back refusing, run get_advancedmodules_pro_status first.
Using it
Ask in plain language:
- "Show the support banner only on weekdays from 9 to 5."
- "Hide the staff tools module from everyone outside our office IP range."
- "Wrap the sidebar newsletter module in a div with the class promo-box."
- "Set the accent extra field on these three modules to blue."
IP lists that can't lock people out by accident
An IP entry can save perfectly well and match nobody, which hides content from the very people it was meant to let in. Advanced Module Manager doesn't understand CIDR, so 10.0.0.0/24 never matches, and a partial address with a trailing dot like 192.168. never matches either. This add-on refuses entries like those and says why. It takes full IPv4 and IPv6 addresses, ranges such as 10.0.0.1-10.0.0.50 or 10.0.0.1-50, and the start of an IPv4 address such as 192.168.
Geolocation rules are refused until the Regular Labs GeoIP library is installed, because without it the rule fails for every visitor and hides the module. HikaShop, ZOO and FLEXIcontent rules need those extensions installed.
Permissions and security
HTML around a module is raw output on every page it shows on. It goes through your Joomla text filter first. If the filter would change anything, such as a script or an event handler when you're not allowed unfiltered HTML, nothing is saved and you're shown the filtered version. {source} tags are refused, because the Sourcerer extension runs them as code.
Tools use Advanced Module Manager's and Conditions' own permissions and the module's own edit permission. PHP rules are never written, and sets that run PHP, or that one depends on, aren't changed here.
How it was tested
Driven end to end on Joomla 6.1.4 and PHP 8.4 against Advanced Module Manager Pro 12.1.0, with results checked on real front-end pages. Every tool was confirmed to refuse on the Free edition. Geolocation, HikaShop, ZOO and FLEXIcontent rules were only tested as far as their checks, because the test site doesn't have those extensions. It had an independent security review, and each finding has its own attack test.
