J2Store is a Joomla Shopping Cart and e-Commerce extension with a different approach to creating an online store. Instead of having a separate extension area where you set up the products you are selling, in J2Store you use the actual Joomla articles that are about your products. Check out this encore performance of this Watch Me Work live stream Collab where we checked out J2Store together.

Summary

1. Intro: J2 Store Collaboration
Tim opens the stream, introduces J2 Store as the topic, and shares a Zoom call link for live participation during the demo.

2. Installing J2 Store & Setup Wizard
The free version of J2 Store is installed, and Tim runs the setup wizard to configure basic store settings including tax, currency, weight class, and dimensions.

3. The Killer Feature: Products as Joomla Articles
The core feature is demonstrated: products are created as normal Joomla articles with a "J2 Store Cart" tab that enables e-commerce functionality.

4. Creating a Product: Pricing, Images & Options
Tim walks through product configuration including regular pricing, advanced pricing (date ranges, quantity discounts), customer group pricing, images, and shipping dimensions.

5. Product Options: Size & Color Dropdowns
Product options like size and color are created, option values are added, and the dropdowns are successfully displayed on the frontend product page.

6. Store Frontend: Shopping Cart & Checkout
The store frontend is tested with add to cart, shopping cart page, shipping estimation, and checkout flowโ€”all working as expected.

7. Filters & Specifications for Product Discovery
Filters are created (Pictures vs Not Pictures, Christmas, Beach, Cars, Trees) and assigned to products. Frontend filtering works, showing only relevant products when filters are applied.

8. Apps: Subscriptions, Bookings, GDPR & Integrations
J2 Store's app ecosystem is explored including Subscriptions (recurring payments), Bookings, GDPR tools, PDF Invoices, AcyMailing integration, and Moodle/Joomla integration via JoongDal.

9. Coupons, Vouchers, Taxes & Localization
Tim creates a 50% off coupon and a $50 birthday voucher. Localization is covered including countries, zones, geo zones, and tax rates with a Canadian GST example (5% for British Columbia).

10. Business Lessons, Guest Appearances & Wrap-Up
Naomi makes a guest appearance, Tim shares a business lesson about pricing (if clients want to make money, you should too), reflects on a failed project (Closed Caption Cleaner) with the advice to be kind to yourself and move on, and wraps up with a final blessing and sign-off.
